L’artiste propose une visite guidée de l’exposition comme si les oeuvres étaient présentes. Ce n’est qu’après quelques minutes de visionnage qu’on comprend que les oeuvres ne sont pas devant nos yeux et que seul le discours du "médiateur" subsiste. Ainsi, Arnaud Cohen offre une appréhension directe d’une forme de ruine archivée et donc transformée en patrimoine, dans sa pure acceptation romantique. Même si la vidéo s’inscrit dans la "tradition" de la critique institutionnelle au même titre que le Département des Aigles de Marcel Broothaers (1972) visites guidées d’Andrea Fraser (Museum Highlights, 1989), Arnaud Cohen y insuffle un côté home-made non sans charme. Et si c’était ça notre vrai patrimoine !

The artist proposes a guided visit of the exhibition as if the artworks were present. It is only after a few minutes of viewing that one understands that the works are not there for our eyes to see and that only the “mediator's” presentation remains. Thus, in the most direct manner, Arnaud Cohen captures a form of archived ruin and transforms it into heritage, in its pure Romantic sense. Though the video belongs to the institutional critique "tradition" rather like the Department of Eagles by Marcel Broodthaers (1972) or guided visits by Andrea Fraser (Museum Highlights, 1989), Arnaud Cohen also gives it a homemade quality which is not without charm. And what if that was our true heritage!
